I purchased the 11" Mizuno Prospect GPP1102 youth mitt for my 7 year old son who is average sized (perhaps a bit thinner than average). I was very pleased to find the glove was ready for play. The leather is soft and the Mizuno "Power Close" design with a notch near the wrist made it easy for him to fully squeeze the glove and catch balls immediately. I expected to have to go through an extensive break-in period first. Instead, I can only see this glove getting even better and better and with what appears to be high quality construction, it should hold up for many seasons.
I purchased it on-line and thus was unable to be certain of the fit. However, I find this 11" size is only slightly on the larger side for him and should fit him for many years. It certainly fits him better at this age than the 9.5" glove he was previously using. The 10.5" would probably have been an acceptable option, but I am glad I purchased this one.

I liked the quality of the glove and it needed only a small amount of working in before ready to play with. Was slightly smaller than expected from a similar glove purchased earlier (GPL 11 inch). That GPL was good for ages 8-10 whereas this glove is more for ages 7-8.
Great glove, great price,

My son has a small hand and this glove by far is the best. He had the smaller 10inch last year and needed a bigger one this year. We originally spent a lot of money on a more expensive glove for this year since he is now playing in a more competitive league, but found out quickly that he needed his old glove back so we ordered the 11 inch glove. He can catch anything with this glove. The closing ability of the glove is flawless especially with kids who have smaller hands. Price doesn't always mean better and we found that to be true with this glove. Would recommend having it steamed since it will be immediately usable.
