Purchased the glove for our 4 yr. old daughter. Bought it for 2 reasons: it was available for left handers and had the pretty pink detailing. It also has v-notch technology so the glove closes easily around the ball - almost effortlessly. The leather is soft making it very comfortable on her hand. The size is a little large for a 4-yr. old, but the v-notch helps her handle it well. The really small gloves for young children are usually plastic. This is something she can use now and can grow into as well. Top notch product!

My daughter was only 6 when I bought this glove for her. I'm not exactly sure if the glove is leather, there's no stamping on her glove stating "genuine leather" or anything similar, but it is soft and very easy to control and close. I took a couple of days breaking it in for her, and now a softball can be caught perfectly in the nicely formed pocket. She has no issues at all. Whatever the material is, as I mentioned before, it's soft but very durable; she's using this into her second season and it's still in excellent condition.

The glove has a nice velcro wrist closure that closes, and secures, pretty tight for smaller hands. Which means the girl using this glove can grow into it and use it for at least 2 seasons. (At this age, you can expect them to outgrow most equipment seasonally.) Since I did purchase the 11 inch glove, she's been able to use it this season as well.
