About Nokona Originally known as the Nocona Leather Goods Company and based in Nocona, Texas, Nokona had to change the spelling of its name when the U.S. patent office wouldn't allow the name of the town to be trademarked. Founded in 1926, Nokona employs highly skilled local leather crafters to create its tradition of creating handmade leather baseball gloves, which are used by countless professional athletes around the world.
I purchased this mitt for my 17 yr old son, he is playing his last year of high school ball and I wanted to update his fielders mitt. I've looked at Nokona gloves for a long time and after viewing Nokona's website I decided on this model. The mitt is constructed with a blend of kangaroo, rawhide, mix. It feels great on the hand, as well as being light. It is not field ready, so breaking in is recommended. Because of the mix of materials used in the construction, breaking this mitt in was/is fairly easy. I've seen a lot of mitts and when you have to spend countless hours getting your glove to fit to your hand, Nokona has a winner on there hands with this one. Right off the bat (pun intended) this glove is soft and playing catch with it will break the pocket in real nice.
