The glove adjusted to my hand perfectly and was ready to use; no need to be softening it before the game. Paying MSRP would be a mistake. Let me explain why.
The glove is not all leather (only the palm of it is leather, apparently, judging from the imprint which reads "Leather Palm".) The implication is that the palm is leather and nothing else is. Frankly the entire thing feels a bit rubbery, like a leather imitation. When you put the glove on, there is a somewhat rapid sensation of being hot and sweaty, like you had put your hand into a plastic baggie, or a latex exam glove. There is no visual difference between the palm and any other part of the glove, if you get close and look at the "texture", to my eye it appears to all be the same stuff.
